Zamboanga City wants ‘Once Islas’ as prime eco-cultural tourism destination

The city government of Zamboanga has urged the newly-created 11 Islands Tourist Association to cooperate with the local government to make the “Once Islas” the prime eco-cultural tourism destination in the country.

The local government made the call as City Administrator Apple Go administered the oath of the officers of the new association Friday, May 10.

Once Islas is a group of 11 islands located within the political boundaries of Barangays Panubigan and Dita, east of Zamboanga City.

It complements the Great Sta. Cruz Island, which continues to attract visitors locally and internationally, the local government said.

“The Once Islas, operated by the City Tourism Office under Sarita Hernandez, empowers the community and respects the indigenous peoples,” it said.
