Zamboanga City to pay for swab testing of passengers affected by cancelled flights, says official

The Zamboanga City government has assured to shoulder the expenses for the re-swab of city-bound passengers affected by the flight cancellation in Manila due to the surge of coronavirus disease cases in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Dr. Elmeir Apolinario, chief implementer of the Zamboanga Task Force Covid-19, said there are also no rebooking charges to be impose on the affected passengers.

The local task force met with the representatives from the different airline companies to thresh out the issues related to Zamboanga City-bound passengers affected by the flight cancellation.

To be included in the no booking charges and free re-swab are those passengers who were affected by the flight suspension that took effect Monday, March 29, Apolinario said.

The Zamboanga TF Covid-19, through the recommendation of its health cluster, earlier suspended all flights from the National Capital Region and other areas where there are reported cases of the new Covid-19 variants effective March 29 until further notice.

Apolinario said the flight suspension is just a stop-gap measure to prevent the city from the risk of the new Covid-19 strains.
