A patient under investigation (PUI) for alleged coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Zamboanga City has passed away, the local government said Sunday, March 22.
However, it said that the PUI who died at a local hospital recently was not a confirmed COVID-19 case yet, pending the results of the tests from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
“Nonetheless, the necessary medical protocols were followed. Members of the family including those who were in close contact with the patient are on home quarantine and isolation,” the city government said.
It reiterated its appeal to the public to stay at home and cooperate with the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.
“Let us assume that everybody is infected and the only way to stop the spread is to stay home,” it said.
As of March 22, there were 29 PUIs in Zamboanga City, including the one that died.
Ten of the PUIs were tested negative while 10 are with pending testing results and the remaining nine have been swabbed with specimens sent to RITM.
On the other hand, there were 587 persons under monitoring (PUMs), including 130 who have completed home quarantine.
