The Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has approved a resolution allocating P1.5 million as financial assistance to local government units (LGUs) devastated by Typhoon “Ulysses” in the Visayas and Luzon areas.
Mayor Beng Climaco, chair of the CDRRMO, said that when Zamboanga City was in need of support and assistance in the aftermath of the 2013 siege, many LGUs also came to the city’s aid.
The financial aid will come from the CDRRMO’s quick response fund.
Climaco noted that Ulysses proved to be one of the deadliest storms to hit the country in 2020.
The typhoon left over 70 people killed and damaged over P19-billion worth of agricultural products and infrastructure in Visayas and Luzon.
