Several families in Zamboanga City have donated artifacts and historical memorabilia to the city’s museum, an official said.
City Museum Curator Architect Ildefonso Torres Jr. said that the Camins family, the Dulaca family, the Natividad family in Manicahan, the Orendain family, and the Tamayo family have given wooden grinder, alfajor shape-container, mortar, wooden basin, water filter, mascota, and others.
In addition to the artifacts, the Museo was also able to collect memorabilia, mementos, and historical photos for the El Museo de Zamboanga, he said.
He said the city museum is engaged in almost daily research and collection activities in line with directives from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to build up local registry and historical database.
“We are researching about Sama people because we are conceptualizing a gallery for the 11 Islands,” Torres added.
According to Torres, the Museo is a Heritage Information Center which provides historical and cultural information in the region.
