Zamboanga City ecozone placed under 7-day lockdown due to Covid-19 cases – Mayor Climaco

Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has ordered the placing of Zamboanga Economic Zone and Freeport Authority in San Ramon, Talisayan under a seven-day lockdown due to cases of coronavirus disease.

The mayor said the lockdown took effect Tuesday, September 22 after two employees of the government agency were tested positive for Covid-19.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head Dr. Elmeir Apolinario said the temporary lockdown will pave the way for disinfection and decontamination of the ecozone administration building and the entire complex.

The City Health Office (CHO) was also directed to conduct contact tracing activities.

Apolinario also urged Ecozone Administrator Raul Regondola to send Ecozone employees, particularly those with direct exposure with COVID positive patients, for testing to be undertaken by the CHO.

The CDRRMO likewise directed the establishment of a buffer zone area with a 24/7 security and stressed that access to the Ecozone complex will be permitted only by the Zamboanga City Task Force Covid-19, through the CDRRMO.
