A 29-year old woman died and four others, including two Army troopers, were injured in road mishap involving 13 vehicles in Zamboanga City Sunday, police said.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 9 said the accident occurred at Suterville, Brgy. San Jose Gusu at about 11:14 a.m.
The vehicles involved were a water tanker truck and 12 others, including two motorcycles and two tricycles.
Merilou Sahisa Maujon-Tajonera, 29, single, a resident of Brgy. Sinunuc, Zamboanga City died on the spot.
Those injured were identified as Vincent Ablay Celestino, 39; Jun Carlo Sumalinog Decierdo, 32; Master Sergeant Sharnard Sarahan de Guzman; and Corporal Elvin Limor Laranja Jr., both members of the Philippine Army.
They were rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Center for immediate medical attention.
Investigation conducted disclosed that the water tanker of Y.L. Fishing Corporation driven by Ledomar Lactao, 28, was on its way from the westcoast heading towards Zamboanga City proper. However, upon approaching intersection of Barangay Sutervillle, the truck driver lost control of the truck due to alleged break failure and accidentally hit the 12 vehicles.
The driver of the said truck is now under the custody of Zamboanga City Police Station 8 pending the filing of appropriate charges against him. #
