President Rodrigo Duterte said he has advised his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, not to run for president in next year’s elections.
Duterte told Davao-based Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo Quiboloy in an interview aired on Tuesday night, June 8, that he talked to his daughter when he returned to Davao City this week.
“Well, si Inday, kagabi man ako dumating, si Inday, kinausap ko talaga kagabi, do not run. Do not ever commit the mistake of running for presidency. I don’t mean to insult the Filipino people, presidente, wala ka talagang makuha,” he said.
He said the salary is not commensurate with all the works and criticisms that a president could get.
“Except for one thing, ‘yung sense of fulfilment mo sa kapwa tao mo, na may nagawa ka, aside from that, it’s (presidency) an empty, puro ka na lang trabaho dyan, now unless magtakbo ka ng presidente, tapos mangurakot ka, you’ll become a billionaire or millionaire whichever you want, pero is that the life you want, kung sobra sobrang pera, aanhin mo naman?” Duterte said.
“Sabi ko sa kanya, knowing you, maawa ako sa ‘yo, magtarabaho ka, ang sweldo 200(000), buti sana, one million ang salary, tapos bigyan ka 200(000) sige ka trabaho, tapos atakihin ka, criticize ka, babayuhin ka in the likes of (former Senator Antonio) Trillanes (IV). Nandyan ang mga ‘yan, tapos itong mga chuchuwariwap ng mga presidential aspirants, you do not deserve it. You don’t deserve it, anak kita, maawa ako sayo, at alam ko namang hindi ka magpunta ng kalokohan, eh sabihin ko sa ‘yo ngauon ‘wag kang tumakbo. Kagabi yun. Sinabi ko ‘wag kang tumakbo,” Duterte added.
Some groups have been pushing Sara to run for president.
