This industry needs to be stopped before it gives a bad name for the city.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog wants to stop the practice among some taxi drivers who refuse passengers or negotiate fares around Iloilo, saying they could potentially turn off the blossoming tourism sector. The politiko sat down with leaders of taxi operators and officials of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to send his message across, asking the drivers to abide by laws and regulations or else suffer the consequences.
“This affects the image of our city, so I hope that our taxi drivers will cooperate and support because we want more tourists to visit here. Also, if they cannot issue receipt, this might discourage visitors,” Mabilog said.
Contracting drivers is a big problem in Metro Manila, but it seems those in the other regions have caught on. Patay na!
