US donates medical equipment, PPE to Zamboanga City


The US Department of Defense has donated medical equipment and sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the people of Zamboanga City in support of the local government’s coronavirus disease (Covid-19) response.

The city government thanked the US for its assistance.

“Thank you very much for your continuous support and assistance to the people of Zamboanga!” it said.

According to the city government, the donation, facilitated by the Special Operations Task Force 511.2, includes over one ton of medical support items and will be distributed to the City Health Office, Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC), West Metro Medical Center, Peninsula Medical Center and Ciudad Medical Center Zamboanga.

SOTF 511.2 Commander N.L. Golike turned over the items Friday, May 22, to the city government led by Mayor Beng Climaco, along with Western Mindanao Command chief Liutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, other military officers, and civilian personnel from the concerned hospitals.
