A Barangay chairman was among those collared by Philippine Army members during an anti-illegal drug operation Saturday (July 22) in the town of General Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao.
A Brigada News FM Koronadal report Sunday (July 23) identified the village politiko as Datumama ‘Bong’ Abdul, 31.
Arrested aside from Abdul were Darex Maslamama, 33; Datukung Membida, 23; Mundjahel Membia, 19; and four minors.
The eight persons were nabbed inside a drug den in Midconding village by members of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade led by Col Bismarck Soliba. Operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), also took part in the raid, among others.
Recovered from the suspects were three hand grenades, assorted ammunitions, sachets of suspected “shabu,” and shabu sniffing paraphernalia.
Charges have been filed against Abdul and the others.
