The Davao City government will conduct as many tests as possible of the Dabawenyos as part of the measure to contain the spread of coronavirus disease, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said.
The local chief executive said that lockdown for Davao City is not a first option in the event that there is a surge in Covid-19 cases.
“It is not easy to say we will lockdown, especially that our businesses are already spread thinly. It is not our first option now. Our first option is testing and make sure that contact tracing is fast,” she said.
The local government has stepped up its surveillance testing in areas that are monitored and reported with high exposure and cases of Covid-19.
Duterte-Carpio said this is one of the measures to prevent the clustering of cases and the potential mega surge of Covid-19 cases in the city.
