TESDA recognizes SRMI for community-based tech training program


The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has named SR Metals, Inc. (SRMI) as its 2017 National Kabalikat Awardee.

TESDA said SRMI, which is owned by John Gutierrez is the only mining firm which made it to the roster of awardees.

“The company was honored for its outstanding contribution to technical education, skills development, infrastructure support and social responsibility to its communities that led to better economic status through opportunities and employment,” TESDA said.

The award was given by TESDA chief Guiling Mamondiong and Labor Undersecretary Dominador Say and Assistant Secretary George Soriano.

To date SRMI has helped a total of 1,587 individuals through its technical education program, which offers training in skills such as welding, electrical, automotive, refrigeration, service driving, heavy equipment operation and other forms of livelihood.
