Taxi operation is set to be launched later this month in Zamboanga City, the local government said.
Quoting Jerson Monteverde, chair of the Asia’s Latin City Transport Services Cooperative (ALTSCOOP), the city government said the taxi operation will be formally rolled out on June 25.
Monteverde said they could already operate in the city after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued the franchise.
LTFRB Zamboanga Regional Office earlier said that it approved the operation of 50 taxi units under a cooperative form management.
It has said that the transport cooperatives or corporations would form part of the government’s transport modernization plan.
