122 IGACOS residents benefit from TUPAD

Some 122 residents of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) have received their cash payout under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The city government said each of the beneficiaries, after working for 15 days, got P6,645 Thursday, March 16, during the payout held at the New City Hall atrium.

IGACOS gov’t holds tree planting, coastal clean-up as part of 25th founding anniv

The Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) government led by Mayor Al David T. Uy has launched a simultaneous tree planting and coastal clean-up as part of the week-long celebration of the city’s 25th founding anniversary. The tree planting took place at Tinago, Barangay Penaplata, and at Hagimit Falls, Barangay Cawag, both in Samal District, and a coastal clean-up at Baywalk, Babak District Tuesday, February 28.

IGACOS selected as candidate city for EU’s SGAC program

The European Union has chosen the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) as a candidate city for the Smart Green ASEAN Cities (SGAC) Programme dedicated to foster the development of funding and financing solutions to implement smart green city projects. SGAC Programme is an initiative of the EU and implemented by the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) in consultation with the ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC) and the ASEAN Secretariat.

IGACOS gov’t extends assistance to 200 hog farmers

The Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) government has distributed sacks of starter feeds to 200 hog farmers as part of its swine stocking project. The activity was initiated to assist the farmers to repopulate swine livestock and revive the farmers’ livelihood, the city government said.

‘Super Health Center’ to rise in IGACOS! Sen. Go leads groundbreaking ceremony

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has led the groundbreaking ceremony of a “Super Health Center” in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS). The project to be built in the Babak District Hall Compound is expected to provide all the basic health needs and some specialized services, including birthing services, laboratory, x-ray, ultrasound, diagnostic, and outpatient departments, among others.

IGACOS, DSWD give cash aid to over 300 indigent residents

The Island Garden City of Samal government, with funding from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has distributed cash assistance to over 300 individuals. Of the total 356 beneficiaries, 41 received P3,000 each under the Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), 140 got P5,000 each for burial assistance, and 175 residents who were affected by Tropical Storm “Paeng” receive P5,000 each, the Samal Island Information said.
