Surigao City still powerless after magnitude 6.7-earthquake


Surigao City remained powerless on Saturday, February 11 following the magnitude 6.7 earthquake that struck the area Friday evening.

Ramon Gotinga of the Surigao Del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said power remains cut-off from the city as of this posting.

Some 89 aftershocks in the area have been recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology as of 5 a.m. on Saturday.

The initial death toll has been placed at six and while some 126 were wounded.
