House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez said “delicadeza” dictates that Davao City Representative-elect Paolo Duterte could not be the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In an interview by ANC, Suarez said Paolo could have inherited some of the qualities of his father, President Rodrigo Duterte, such as being straight forward and honest.
“Siguro kung hindi pangulo ang Pangulong Digong, he can be a contender (to Speakership),” he said.
“Pero delicadeza dictates, Presidente tapos Speaker ang anak mo. Sayang. The opportunity medyo hindi sa advantage nya (Paolo) na ang pangulo ay tatay nya,” the Quezon congressman said.
There were talks that Paolo could be a contender in the Speakership when the 18th Congress opens in July despite being a neophyte lawmaker.
