Strict measures for worshippers! Bangsamoro Darul Ifta allows mosques’ reopening

The Bangsamoro Darul Ifta has lifted the temporary suspension of the Friday and other congregational prayers in mosques after the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) shifted to modified general community quarantine starting Monday, June 1.

Religious Guideline No. 009, which Grand Mufti Abu Huraira Udasan signed, however, said the public should “strictly comply” with the measures to ensure that coronavirus disease (Covid-19) would not spread.

The measures include only 50 percent capacity of the mosque for every prayer; physical distancing of at least one meter apart; wearing of proper face masks; and use of alcohol and hand sanitizers to be placed at mosque’s entrances.

Every worshipper is also required to bring his own “sajadah”; and ordinary prayers are limited to 20 minutes only while 30 minutes for the Jum’ah prayers performances.

As soon as the prayer is over, everyone has to vacate the mosque to give way for its standard disinfection and sanitation, Udasan said.

Udasan also advised worshippers who are not feeling well to perform prayer at their houses.
