Soldiers nab 13 armed men in Zamboanga Sibugay

The government troops have arrested 13 rogue personalities and confiscated from them five firearms following an encounter in Zamboanga Sibugay, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) said.

The armed confrontation between the soldiers from the 42nd Infantry Battalion under the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan and the lawless group took place in Barangay Sisay in Tungawan town, Saturday, January 5.

The military personnel seized from the arrested individuals two M2 Carbine rifles, a KG9 pistol, an Uzi pistol, a Caliber .38 pistol, several magazines, and rounds of live ammunition.

“The arrest is an offshoot of our intensified operations on the ground and our coordination with the local government and the police to sustain the internal security in Western Mindanao,” said Westmincom commander Lt. Gen. Arnel Dela Vega.
