Authorities have confiscated smuggled cigarettes in Zamboanga City during the conduct of checkpoint operations.
Col. Antonio John Divinagracia, commander of Joint Task Force Zamboanga, said troops from the Charlie Company, 7th Infantry Battalion and the Philippine National Police Station 4 intercepted the two vans loaded with the contraband in Barangay Culianan Saturday, January 18.
Confiscated from the Toyota Hi-Ace were 13 cases of assorted smuggled cigarettes while eight small boxes filled with 25 reams each of imported undocumented cigarettes were seized from the Nissan Urvan.
“Intercepted vehicle were bound to Barangay Sangali, this city,” said Divinagracia.
Seized items are temporarily placed under the custody of Zamboang City Police Station 4 while waiting for the proper turnover to Zamboanga City Bureau of Customs.
