Sema: Marawi rehab coming soon

Deputy Speaker Bai Sandra Sema has received assurance from President Rodrigo Duterte himself that the master plan for the rehabilitation of bombed-out Marawi City is about to begin.

In an interview over Brigada News FM Cotabato City Wednesday (July 26), Sema, who represents the first district of Maguindanao, said she received this information from the Chief Executive during a meeting.

It can be recalled that the national government has earmarked P20 billion for the rehabilitation of the Islamic city.

Marawi in Lanao del Sur is the site of ongoing skirmishes between Maute Group terrorists and the armed forces. The ISIS-linked Maute occupied the city last May 23.

Since then, Marawi has sustained heavy damage from missile strikes and continuous gunfighting.

Sema said the government is deep in preparation for its task of getting Marawi back on its feet.
