Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has warned against groups linked to the illegal giant clam trade allegedly using her name to evade arrest from authorities.
Duterte’s statement came after a certain middleman for the trade of fossilized taklobo or giant clams has name dropped her name to evade arrest in police operations in Calatagan, Batangas.
“The public is hereby informed that I do not participate in this trade,” said Duterte.
Duterte stressed that she does “not participate, support or condone any criminal activity and have not told anyone to use my name if they are caught.”
The President’s daughter urged the public to immediately report or arrest people using her name for their criminal activities and to not believe their machinations.
