Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David T. Uy has issued an executive order suspending all resort operations in Talicud Island due to the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Under EO No. 206 signed Thursday, March 19, Uy directed all resort operators to advise their guests, both non-resident and foreigners, to cut their stay and leave the island immediately.
“Otherwise, they will be forced to submit to mandatory 30 day quarantine period at their own expense,” he said.
The mayor also mandated beach and inland resort operators to conduct disinfection of their premises while on business suspension to help the city stop the spread of the virus.
He warned that business permits of persons or entities would be revoked or suspended if they were found violating the EO.
The Order shall remain in full force and effect until President Rodrigo Duterte lifts the public health emergency.
Talicud Island is a renowned tourism hub in Samal where several beach resorts are situated. #
