Samal LGU, DSWD give cash aid to public vendors

The Island Garden City of Samal Office of Mayor Al David T. Uy, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has facilitated the cash release for livelihood assistance to some beneficiaries in the city.

Cash aid amounting to P15,000 was given to each of the 120 beneficiaries on November 19 at the Freedom Park, Ka’anan sa Park.

The recipients, who were public vendors whose businesses were greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, came from Babak, Samal, and Kaputian.

Based on the guidelines of the program, DSWD assessed, evaluated, and validated the grantees who were from the list forwarded by the City Mayor’s Office and City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD). This is to ensure the eligibility of the beneficiaries, the local government said.

The cash release was under the Livelihood Assistance Grant for Livelihood Recovery.
