Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David Uy has received plaques of recognition after the city was named as one of the top performing cities in Region XI.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao del Norte Provincial Director Romeo Castañaga led the official handing over of the plaques Monday, May 3, at the City Mayor’s Office.
Samal City was hailed as the “Most Improved LGU Component City” during the regional virtual awarding program of the 2020 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) held last February.
Specifically, the awards include 2nd place in Government Efficiency Component City; 3rd place in Resiliency Component City and the 4th place in Infrastructure.
For the Overall Most Competitive Component City, Samal bagged the 3rd place, signifying the efforts of the local government in pursuing outstanding government service committed to the public, the city government said.
The rankings were based on the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index 2020, an annual competitiveness ranking of the cities and municipalities in the country according to four pillars: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.
“The LGU Samal Island would like to express its gratitude to the stakeholders of both the national and local government agencies and offices, private individuals and entities and all who took part in the success of this milestone,” the local government said.
