Former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte has slammed Pia Ranada, a reporter of Rappler, for what he called as “sabaw (stupid) na analysis” regarding the wish of President Rodrigo Duterte for his grandson Omar.
During his trip to Sulu Monday, March 26, Duterte, in his speech, said his only interest for Omar would be to become a mayor of Davao City.
“Mag-interest na lang ako ‘yung apo ko maging mayor ng Davao, okay na ‘yan. At least may dumaang mayor na Muslim,” the President said.
Omar, son of Paolo to his first wife Lovelie Sangkola Sumera, accompanied Duterte during his visit to Patikul, Sulu.
“Ito ang napapala ng isang journalist na nag-aabang lang ng Facebook Live para makapag-cover kasi banned sa actual coverage. Ano ang tawag dyan? Facebook Live journalism?,” said Paolo on his Facebook page.
“At ang resulta, kung saan-saan na naman umabot ang sabaw na analysis. Nang-chismis na naman,” he added.
In his FB, Paolo even included in his post a link of the story that Ranada wrote for Rappler, with the headline, “Duterte’s wish: For his grandson to be Davao City mayor.”
Ranada’s article focused on what Duterte wanted for his grandson despite the proposal of the consultative committee, which he formed to study possible amendments to the 1987 Constitution, to ban political dynasties in the country.
“Pero, tan-awa ninyo kung giunsa pagsulod sa bulsa ang laffler. (But now look how laffler was placed inside the pocket),” the presidential son said.
Paolo said Ranada should instead apply in a television network and replace Cristy Fermin, who is known for her blind items in the world of show business.
“Kataw-anan man ka intawon, manang Pia uy. Maayo pa mo-apply ka sa TV5. Ilisdi si Cristy Fermin kay chismosa kang dako (You’re funny, manang Pia. Good for you to apply at TV5. Replace Cristy Fermin because you’re a big rumor-monger),” he said.
