Regional CODE team holds virtual consultation with Mayor Climaco on Zamboanga City’s Covid situation
Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco and Local Task Force Covid held a virtual meeting Friday, June 4, with the Regional Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team and discussed the ongoing efforts to arrest the surging cases of coronavirus disease in the city.
The meeting was the first leg of the Virtual Townhall Consultation with local government units (LGUs) in the region with high and critical areas, organized by the CODE Team led by Office of Civil Defense Regional Director Manuel Ochotorena.
The local government said the Zamboanga City TF Covid focused its report on the implementation of Prevention, Detection, Isolation, Treatment and Reintegration (PDITR) strategy intended to lower Covid-19 transmission in the city.
It said Ochotorena and the other members of the CODE Team commended Climaco and the Local TF Covid for all the efforts and mechanisms put in place specifically the creation of the Compliance Team, Barangay Sita Task Forces and Barangay Information Officers Network that aim to ensure compliance of health and safety protocols and the guidelines while the city is under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Ochotorena cited that from over 2,800 Covid-19 cases by middle of May, the city was able to lower the number to 1,600 as of June 3.
He urged the local task force to sustain and to further lower the number of cases for the protection and safety of the residents in the city and the region.
