Police Chief Supt. Gilberto Cruz, Police Regional Office 13 director, has ordered the Bislig City Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation to arrest those who were behind the shooting incident that killed the wife of the City Mayor of Bislig City in Surigao del Sur Saturday night.
Cruz said that Carmencita T. Navarro, also known as “Madam Tita”, 62, wife of Mayor Librado Navarro, was shot by unidentified suspect at Baywalk, Poblacion, Bislig City, at around 6:15 p.m.
She was rushed to Bislig District Hospital but was later declared dead.
Initial investigation revealed that a lone gunman shot the victim once at closed range using .45 caliber pistol hitting her left temporal area.
Navarro, together with her two female companions, was standing at the pavement supervising the installations of series lights at the land mark “I LOVE BISLIG” when she was attacked.
The gunman immediately fled away on board a single XRM black motorcycle with undetermined plate number and sped off towards south direction.
The witnesses described the suspect as 5’3 in height, medium body built with facemask, wearing black jacket with hood and short pants while the driver of XRM motorcycle was also wearing facemask.
“We are doing all the best we can to identify the perpetrators and the person/s behind this shooting incident and file appropriate charges against them to put them behind the bars of justice,” Cruz said.
He urged the witnesses and all those who have relevant information to help in resolving the case by providing information.
