Pinayagan under MGCQ! Davao City converts 6 sites to treatment, monitoring facilities amid rising Covid-19 cases
The Davao City government is upgrading its six quarantine sites into temporary treatment and monitoring facilities amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in the city.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the facilities, which are up for classification by the Department of Health (DOH), are Emcor Inc. container vans, University of Mindanao Faculty and Staff Housing, Davao City-University of the Philippines Sports Complex, Alternative Learning System Building, Rizal Memorial Colleges classrooms, and the La Vida Inn.
She vowed to reinspect the facilities to ensure that they are clean, complete and fully operational by July 20. She has also committed to hire or assign the staffing required for the facilities.
Duterte-Carpio also asked DOH to transfer all patients housed at Queensland, which shall cease allowing admissions on July 20, to the identified six facilities depending on their classification.
As of July 13, Davao City has 162 active positive Covid-19 cases, 382 recovered and 35 deaths based on the data of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has granted the appeal of Duterte-Carpio not to place again Davao City under the less relaxed general community quarantine (GCQ).
Under the latest quarantine classification, the city remains under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) from July 16 to July 31.
The mayor earlier said that she asked the IATF to maintain the city under MGCQ.
