Pang-break ng fasting! Deputy Speaker Sema brings ‘best’ crabs feast in House

Muslims traditionally break the Ramadan fasting by eating three pieces of dates, similar to how the prophet Muhammad did it. This lawmaker overdid it.

Deputy Speaker Bai Sandra Sema had 30 kilos of “the best crabs” sent via air from Barangay Kalanganan in Cotabato City to the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

The steamed crabs served as an “iftar,” the meal eaten by Muslims after sunset during Ramadan.

“Masarap,” said the people in the House, regardless if they’re Muslim or not.

Among those who joined the feast were Tawi-Tawi Rep. Ruby Maquiso Sahali and Trade Union Congress of the Philippines party-list Rep. Raymond Democrito Mendoza.

How about the high blood the fatty crab meat will bring? “Inom gamot,” answered Sema.

Deputy Speaker Sema knows how to enjoy the best things in life. Be like her.
