Pag dumating ang AstraZeneca vaccines! Zamboanga City to start Covid-19 vaccinations by Q3 – official
The Zamboanga City government is eyeing to start its mass vaccinations against coronavirus disease by third quarter of this year, giving priority to frontline workers and vulnerable groups, an official said.
This was after Mayor Beng Climaco signed early this week a multilateral agreement with United Kingdom’s AstraZeneca for 410,000 doses of vaccines intended for 205,000 residents of Zamboanga City in the amount of $2.050 million or about P100 million.
City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said they expect the vaccines from AstraZeneca to be available sometime in the third quarter of 2021.
Currently, she said plans for vaccination roll-out strategies in the city is being readied and finalized following Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.
The city’s vaccination program will cover 694,696 residents which is 70 percent of its projected 2021 population of 992,423 inhabitants.
Miravite said at least 70 percent of the population should have Covid-19 vaccinations in order to have herd immunity.
