P4.8-M seaweeds buying station to rise in Tawi-Tawi – MAFAR

The Bangsamoro government has conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Seaweeds Buying Station in a town in Tawi-Tawi province.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishery and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), it has earmarked P4.8 million for the project located at Barangay Butun in Sapa-Sapa Municipality.

The project covers the construction of a warehouse building and procurement of other equipment needed to operate the buying station.

“The project aimed at boosting economic gains of the seaweeds farmers of Sapa-Sapa and the nearby municipalities,” said Provincial Director Aidarus Nami of MAFAR Tawi-Tawi.

Nami said the project will also extricate the travel cost of transporting the produce to Bongao Municipality, the province’s business center, as the seaweeds buying station in Sapa-sapa will purchase seaweeds products equal to the standard price in Bongao.

He stressed that the project will encourage the seaweeds producers to increase production and boost their income.
