At least 75 hectares of rice fields in Zamboanga City have been destroyed due to flash floods, Mayor Beng Climaco said Tuesday, September 15.
Citing a partial report from the City Agriculturist Office, the local chief executive said estimated value to the damaged agricultural crops in Culianan District is P2.8 million
“The rains accompanied by strong winds also flooded streets, damaged several houses on stilts and knocked down trees causing power outage in various parts of the city,” she said.
Climaco directed the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to be on alert 24/7.
She also advised the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee to monitor the situation in their respective areas and to take appropriate actions if the situation calls for it.
