Over 100 students start summer job in Samal City LGU

More than 100 students in the Island Garden City of Samal have qualified for this year’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).

The 116 beneficiaries started working Wednesday, May 11, in their chosen offices under the city government, said Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Florencio Valera.

He said the students will be working for 20 days and they will receive P547 per day, wherein 60 percent of the total salary is funded by the city and 40 percent will come from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

“The large number of grantees of SPES every year is made possible by the local government, as City Mayor Al David T. Uy favored allocating a bigger budget for the program,” the city government said.

Aside from earning, the summer employees will also have the chance to be exposed to the government works and services which they can use for their future careers.
