NPA killed in Davao de Oro clash


An alleged member of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in an encounter with the military in Pantukan, Davao de Oro.

The government troops from the 71st Infantry Battalion (IB) and Regional Mobile Force Company were conducting their usual active defense patrol in relation to the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) but were fired upon by undetermined number of the rebels resulting in an armed encounter Tuesday morning, April 7, said Lieutenant Colonel Sonny Gonzales, commanding Officer of 71IB.

The clash lasted for 15 minutes which resulted to the death of an NPA member.

The government troops also recovered one Bushmaster MOD-XM15 E2S loaded with 25 rounds of ammunition, one AK47 with three magazines loaded with 77 rounds of ammunition, 72 rounds of Garand rifle ammunition, one air gun rifle, one upper air gun rifle, three backpacks with personal belongings, subversive documents with high intelligence value, one cellphone with several sim cards, medical supplies and paraphernalia.

There was no casualty from the government side.
