Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles said Tuesday (April 4) that President Rodrigo Duterte’s sacking of Interior Secretary Mike Sueno isn’t a sign of weakness from his administration. Rather, it’s the opposite.
“It doesn’t show a crack in the administration. It shows that the President means business when it comes to his promise to rid the bureaucracy of corruption,” said Nograles, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.
Duterte fired his longtime pal Sueno after confronting him about the corruption allegations against him at a Cabinet meeting in Malacañang Monday (April 3).
Sueno was a key part of then-Davao City Mayor Duterte’s campaign team last year.
“He is not using his position to protect his allies, kapartido man o kaibigan,” Nograles said of the president.
“Walang bias, walang pinoproteksyonan. The President is strengthening his foothold, instilling discipline, doing what needs to be done,” underscored the Davao congressman. #
