The Davao City government advised Thursday, May 21, the public that Eid’l Fitr mass prayers are cancelled.
The local government said this is in accordance to the Omnibus Guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Under the guidelines, it said areas that have been placed under the general community quarantine (GCQ) are encouraged to hold religious gatherings. Davao City is under GCQ.
“In unavoidable instances, religious gatherings, in any case, should be not more than ten (10) persons. Minimum health and safety precautions, such as wearing of masks, social distancing, should also be in place,” the city government.
It said that Eid’l Fitr Prayer and Khutbah will be heard live on 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio on Sunday, May 24, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
President Rodrigo Duterte has declared Monday, May 25, as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr or Feast of Ramadhan.
