Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said Monday, September 13, the coronavirus pandemic is not a joke and that there is no conspiracy here.
This, as she reminded the public to observe the safety protocols and veer away from unessential activities.
“This is not a joke. This is not a conspiracy. We did not plan this with the patients in the hospitals who are in need of oxygen. My advice to the public is to get yourself vaccinated,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She made the statement amid the shortage of oxygen tanks as announced by regional hospitals.
The official stressed that the quarantine restriction has a purpose, which is to control the movement of the public in a bid to curb the rising cases of Covid-19.
The mayor reiterated that the Dabawenyos should go out in their respective residences for essential purposes only such as work, business, access to food, and medicine.
Davao City is currently under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.
