The National Housing Authority (NHA) will construct 1,700 permanent housing units for the families displaced by strong earthquakes in Kidapawan City.
The local government of Kidapawan said this was the commitment made by NHA General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. during the Post Earthquake Command Conference on November 25 in the city.
“Makikinabang dito yaong mga pamilyang lumikas mula sa mga No Build Up Zones na mga lugar na idineklarang peligroso ng Mines and Geo Sciences Bureau ng DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) at Phivolcs dahil sa banta ng landslides sa mga residente,” it said.
Mayor Joseph Evangelista said the city government will buy the land for the housing site.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod has also given Evangelista the authority to negotiate with Land Bank of the Philippines for the P100 million loan to fund the recovery efforts of the city after the destructive earthquakes.
“Bahagi nito ay gagamiting pondo bilang pambili ng lupang magsisilbing relocation site, site development ng lupa at tulong pang kabuhayan ng mga nasalanta,” the local government said. #
