Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio admitted Wednesday that tears from her eyes flowed upon learning that her hometown delivered a 12-0 vote for the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP)-backed senatorial candidates.
On her Instagram post, the presidential daughter said this was “first in our City’s history.”
“I am not a person who cries easily but when it was definite that Davao City delivered a 12-0 vote for Senators of HNP, the tears flowed and the sobbing followed,” she said with her photo inside a church.
She also quoted the Bible verse from Luke 12:48: For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.
“I am humbled as I bow,” said Duterte-Carpio who also won on her reelection bid.
She thanked the Dabawenyos for supporting the HNP’s senatorial candidates.
“I have said that I feel alone everyday stressing over making sure Davao City is ok but when I need am in distress, Dabawenyos carry me on their backs. Sa tanan kalisod, baha, bagyo ug kani nga election sa senador wala gyud ko ninyo gibiyaan. Gahilak ko nagsulat ani, salamat sa inyo. I promise to work harder until I break. I love you all,” she said.
In Davao City, former presidential aide Christopher “Bong” Go topped in the senatorial race, followed by Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
The other HNP-supported senatorial bets who made it to the top 12 in Davao City were Pia Cayetano, Cynthia Villar, Francis Tolentino, Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, Imee Marcos, JV Estrada Ejercito, Koko Pimentel, Dong Mangudadatu, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr, and Jinggoy Estrada.
Jiggy Manicad who was also endorsed by HNP ranked 15th in Davao City.
