The city government of Davao said it will distribute rice purchased from the state-run National Food Authority (NFA) after one of its suppliers encountered problems with the delivery of its shipment.
“To resolve the problem and expedite the distribution of relief goods, the City Government has decided to purchase the cheaper National Food Authority stocks because it is readily available,” the local government said in a statement.
The city government has been extending relief packs, including rice, to the Davao residents amid the community quarantine, which Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio modified to enhanced community quarantine Thursday, April 2, in the city to prevent further spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“We expect that beneficiaries, who are used to non-NFA rice, will notice the difference in the quality of the products,” it said.
The city government thanked the Dabawenyos for their usual support and understanding.
