Too much rain: Mastura says Sultan Kudarat in State of Calamity

Sultan Kudarat has been placed under a State of Calamity by Mayor Datu Shameem Mastura.

This was due to the non-stop rains in the province, which according to Mastura has affected an estimated 20,000 residents across 16 villages.

A Brigada News FM Cotabato report Tuesday (June 6) said that an estimated P9 million worth of agricultural products have been destroyed by the floods, which were worsened by the overflowing of the river.

The same report said that the overflowed river affected nearby residents. This prompted Mastura to make rounds in the villages to distribute assistance.

The mayor said that the local government unit (LGU) continues to monitor the situation on the ground.

Earlier declaring a State of Calamity was the municipality of Mother Kabuntalan. Meanwhile, heavy floods were also reported in the towns of Datu Piang , Datu Salibo and Sultan Sa Barongis.
