Misamis Oriental 2nd district Rep. Juliette Uy said that the education to some 4,000 poor children in her province is in peril.
The lady politiko is blaming Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Resolution No. 338-2015, which orders the closure via phase out of all 11 Bukidnon State University External Studies Centers (BSU-ESCs).
“This puts the education of more than 4,000 mostly poor students in jeopardy. Government is mandated to expand public tertiary education. CHED should in fact help these BSU-ESCs attain compliance or make alternatives possible instead of just closing them down,” Uy said in a statement.
The BSU-ESCs are located in the towns of Alubijid, Kinoguitan, Libertad, Magsaysay, Manticao, Medina, Salay, Talisayan, Sugbongcogon and the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Gingoog.
Uy said the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education managed to initiate an inquiry on the questioned CHED order before the sine die adjournment of Congress last week.
“The Committee also carried our appeal for the CHED to rescind or hold in abeyance its closure order on the BSU-ESCs,” she said. #
