Military rescues wounded NPA rebel in Davao Oriental
Government troops rescued Friday a wounded member of the New People’s Army (NPA) who was abandoned by his companions after an encounter in Davao Oriental.
The suspected rebel identified as Jason Languban was rescued in Barangay Maragatas, Lupon at around 9:00 a.m. after the community reported his presence to the troops of the 28th Infantry Battalion (IB).
He was lying in a banana plantation when found by the residents in the area and the soldiers.
Languban, who hails from Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, was rushed to Camp Panacan Station Hospital in Davao City for initial medical treatment and was later evacuated to Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City.
It was learned that Languban was wounded in a clash between the 28IB troopers and the rebels in Barangay Maragatas on September 13, which also resulted to the killing of one soldier and wounding of four others.
