Military lauds ‘most peaceful’ polls in Sulu history

The military has hailed the peaceful and orderly elections in Sulu after it recorded zero election-related violent incidents.

“We are happy and proud to say that the election in Sulu is successful, with zero election-related violent incidents. In all areas we were deployed, the election went on smoothly as scheduled and planned,” said Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu and 11th Infantry Division.

“The presence of the security forces provided confidence to our people to vote and prevented those who have planned to conduct atrocities. This is remarkably the most peaceful election in the history of Sulu,” he stressed.

There were three minor incidents, such as an altercation, but the military and police were able to respond immediately and stabilize the situation, Patrimonio added.
