Mayor Uy vows Samal Island City College to level up


Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David T. Uy has assured the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) that Samal Island City College (SICC) will provide quality education and to level up after it was awarded with Certification of Eligibility.

Uy welcomed CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III days after the SICC got its Certification of Eligibility under Republic Act No. 10931, otherwise known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act on Oct. 15, 2021 at Davao del Sur Coliseum, Digos City.

“Magsisipag at magpupursigi po kami,” the mayor said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the late Dr. Lyndon Devero for the legacy and contributions that he left for the local college.

For his part, De Vera congratulated the Samal local government and the SICC for their active and fast compliance to the requirements of CHED.

He added that the next step would not merely be just targeting compliance but to aim the improvement of the program offerings and to capacitate faculty.
