Mayor Uy temporarily suspends resort operations in Samal mainland

Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David T. Uy has ordered the temporary suspension of all resort operations in the city’s mainland.

Under EO 204 Series of 2020, which was signed on March 20, but only received by the Samal Public Information Office (PIO) Monday, March 23, Uy said there is a shortage of government resources such as health, security and emergency personnel who would monitor the incoming and outgoing persons in the city.

“All operations of beach and inland resorts in mainland Island Garden City of Samal is hereby ordered closed,” he said.

He directed the resort operators to reach out to guests with bookings/reservations scheduled on or after March 23 for cancellation and/or rebooking arrangement.

“All resort operators are mandated to conduct disinfection of their premises while on business suspension to stop the spread of the virus,” Uy added.

He warned that business permits of persons or entities found violating the provisions of his order shall be revoked or suspended “without need of judicial proceeding.”

The EO started to take effect on March 23 and ends when the public health emergency is lifted by the national government.
