Mayor Sayadi suspends classes on Jan. 18 when Duterte attends assembly for BOL plebiscite

Cotabato City Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi has declared class suspension in all levels both in public and private schools on Friday, January 18.

“This announcement was made during the City Peace and Order Council meeting,” said the city government.

Sayadi presided over the meeting Wednesday, January 16.

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to attend a peace assembly at the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Office of the Regional Governor Compound in Cotabato City on Friday.

He is expected to ask support of the people in Cotabato City and nearby areas for the plebiscite to ratify the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) on January 21 and February 6.

Sayadi has been strongly opposing the inclusion of Cotabato City in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao that will replace the existing ARMM.
