Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has imposed a “one strike rule” on establishments caught violating the rule on serving alcoholic drinks.
The local chief executive directed the Vices Regulation Unit (VRU) and barangay officials to monitor establishments for violations of Executive Order No. 50-A issued Tuesday, September 22.
The new EO was laid down with additional guidelines, particularly on the serving quantities of alcoholic and intoxicating drinks.
Under the new guidelines, Duterte-Carpio clarified the definition of “Serving” as the quantity of item served to one customer.
This also conforms to Section 3 of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Memorandum Circular No. 20-39 Series of 2020 wherein a maximum of two servings of alcoholic beverages is allowed in restaurants and food businesses.
The VRU and the Barangay Council will conduct vigorous surveillance of all restaurants, fastfood, sari-sari stores, and other establishments covered by the EO and must move for the closure of an establishment after a single violation is properly documented.
