Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is open to placing the city under an “extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)” to contain the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The local chief executive said the decision would be made as the ECQ in the city and in Davao Region ends on April 19.
“We are now planning on what will happen to Davao City and Davao Region after April 19,” she said.
“We are planning two things – one is Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine or we go back to the ordinary community quarantine,” the mayor added.
In the event an EECQ is enforced, she said that fewer establishment will remain open and less workers will go to work.
Duterte-Carpio also reminded the business owners to prepare a system adopting physical distancing when the city goes back to the ordinary community quarantine.
She said that it is better to have a system in place, such as establishing proper distancing between their customers.
“Everyone must mark their floors and seats so that the people will know where they can sit or stand,” she said.
As of 8:00 a.m. of April 7, Davao City has 20 positive COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths and 20 recoveries. #
